made with respect
for people and the planet
We believe that doing business responsibly is the only way to do business. Therefore, all KOW products are manufactured in our own production facility in Siem Reap, Cambodia. This allows us to have full control over the working conditions, the supply- and waste management, and much more. We offer our staff undetermined duration contracts, fair wages, relevant benefits and a safe, healthy and pleasant working environment. We feel strongly about contributing to a healthy work-life balance for our staff: that means for example that overtime is rare and always voluntary when it occurs. But this also means that we acknowledge that work should be more than a means to generate an income. It also provides meaning, personal development and especially in the context of a developing country such as Cambodia: an improved position within the family for the women who work with us. You can read more about our corporate social responsibility in our employee handbook.
We source and produce with the aim to leave a minimal footprint on this planet. A big goal for a small company, but we make our choices in careful consideration of the impact we have on this planet. There are no chemicals used in the process of making KOW slippers and our zero-waste project allows us to exercise our creativity and redesign scrap materials into exciting new products.
We control all aspects of the production of KOW slippers so we can offer our conscious customers an honest and ethical alternative.
sole 100% cow
The slippers can occasionally be machine washed, using a wool programme. Dry flat to maintain shape.
quality = comfort
High quality yarn does not itch and does not lead to perspiration. We want to make comfortable slippers, so we use quality materials. Simple as that.
quality = sustainability
A sustainable and responsible production process that results in low quality disposables is not sustainable at all. We want to make timeless slippers, your moment of relaxation for many seasons to come.
KOW slippers are carefully handmade of (a mix of) Dutch Scheepjes yarn and sustainably produced Icelandic Lopi yarns.
The cow- and goat split leather soles are attached by hand, using the strongest available fibre called Dyneema to ensure that the inevitable friction from movement will not easily lead to wear and tear.
